Driving DevOps principals deep into product design - an example from TeleMedicine

Michael Harris is the Chief Technology Officer and a Fellow for GlobalMed and is responsible for the software, hardware and industrial design teams that develop their telehealth and telemedicine suite of products.
Harris has earned acclaim for his award-winning product designs and research coverage of the video software industries and holds multiple patents in light polarization.

Michael Harris has been in the camera and video conferencing industry for more than 25 years. Prior to co-founding GlobalMed in 2002, Harris was the Chief Technology Officer for PAR Technologies where he lead the charge in mobile video developments and software suite, and in 1995 was President and Chief Operation Officer for iREZ Research where he managed over the Sales, Marketing and DevOps of the company’s mobile video camera and h.324 video conferencing software technologies. Harris was also the Director of Marketing and Digital technologies at VideoLabs during a successful IPO in 1992.

The role of software in achieving customer engagement and business excellence in an era of Health Digitalisation

Michael joined Merck in 2000 and founded the Business Intelligence unit. He was thereafter appointed as Head of Corporate Information Platform, introduced BI & data integration services for more than 5,000 users. In 2010 Michael took over an international leadership position heading the IT function for Europe, Middle East and Africa. In October 2015 he was appointed to lead Global Marketing and Commercial IT and became member of the Healthcare IT leadership team reporting to the CIO for Merck Healthcare.
Michael graduated in Business Administration and in 2012 he obtained a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Ashridge University in the UK.

Creating a start-up micro-culture within a global health giant – The MSD Global Innovation Centre DevOps story

Responsible for facilitating disruptive technology strategy, architecture, governance, implementation and transfer within the CIO office of Applied Technology, IT Strategy and Innovation.

Currently focused on delivering a holistic end-to-end GxP-ready DevOps Platform and establishing an Applied Architecture practice to bring forward technologies using platforms and apis to the business at speed and scale.

Other pursuits include establishing open data/source ecosystems, outcomes and communities between Healthcare, Academia and various Data Communities, establishing communities of technical innovation and collaboration between our international hubs and building future and emerging talent through them.
